Boerne Concrete ProsKendall County flatwork (830) 357-7152

A concrete crew out of Boerne.

Flatwork for homeowners, builders, and businesses across Kendall County. Most of our work is slabs and driveways, and most of it comes from someone who watched us pour for a neighbor.

How we work

Nothing complicated. It mostly comes down to being on site before quoting and being specific on paper.

We come look at it

Every estimate starts on the ground. We check the subgrade, see how close rock is, work out the drainage, and find out how a truck gets in. We don't quote a slab we haven't stood on, and we don't charge to come out.

The number is itemized

Square footage, thickness, bar size and spacing, base depth, finish, and what happens to the spoil. If the base needs work, it's in the quote — not added once the old slab is out and you have no other option.

The base gets the time

Most of what fails around here fails underneath. Base goes down in lifts, gets compacted at the right moisture, and gets proof-rolled before steel. It's the slow part of the job and the part nobody ever sees.

We'll talk you out of things

If a slab needs more base than the budget allows, or the drainage has to be solved first, or the crack you're worried about is cosmetic and not worth money, we'll say so at the estimate rather than take the job and hand you a problem.

What we don't do

Worth saying plainly, because it saves everyone a phone call.

Coatings and polished floors

We pour and finish concrete. Epoxy, garage floor coatings, and polished concrete are a different trade with different equipment, and we'd rather point you at someone who does it all day than do it occasionally.

Pavers, stone and tile

If what you actually want is a flagstone patio or a paver drive, that's a hardscape contractor, not us. We'll tell you at the estimate instead of quoting concrete for a job that wants something else.

Structural engineering

For anything carrying a building — a barndominium, an addition, a post-tension slab — you need an engineered plan. We build to it, and we'll tell you when you need one, but we don't draw it.

Rush a cure

Foot traffic in a day or so, vehicles in about seven. Anyone promising you a driveway back under a truck sooner than that is planning to hand you a cracked slab and be gone before it shows.

Get to know us

We think a homeowner who understands what's in a slab gets a better job, because they ask better questions and they can tell a real bid from a cheap one. So we'd rather you read up before you call anyone, including us.

If you're collecting quotes, ask every contractor for thickness, bar size and spacing, and base depth in writing. A bid that won't put those on paper isn't a bid you can compare.

Worth reading before you get quotes. The Concrete Network's guide to slab thickness and reinforcement is plain-language and short, and the NRMCA's Concrete in Practice series covers curing, cracking, and cold-weather pours the way a contractor would explain them.
